dogtreatsIf you were wondering what to make for your loyal four legged friend for Christmas here are some simple treats that will make your pup very happy on Christmas morning…there is still time and chances are you have everything right in your cabinet.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup honey

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 egg

1/4 cup peanut butter

4 teaspoons skim milk

2 1/2 cups whole-wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

Carob powder and oil to garnish

Preaheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix together oil, honey, vanilla, egg, peanut butter and milk in a bowl. In a separate bowl, blend together flour, baking powder and ginger. Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture and stir thoroughly. Knead the dough on a lightly flowered surface, roll out into 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Cool on a rack and store in an airtight container.

To garnish: Mix 1/4 carob powder with 2 Tablespoons oil. Add carob or oil to make correct consistency. Dip edges of bones into mixture or write the dogs name on it.
