Hamburger Cookies

It seems like Memorial Day is the ‘unofficial’ kick off for summer and that means lots of cookouts and barbeques. These little hamburger cookies will be a hit next time you are cooking hamburgers on the grill. They are one of the first things I remember making growing up…besides my first batch of extremely salty cookies. Hope you have a great long weekend!

Hamburger Cookies

1 package vanilla wafer cookies
1 cup chocolate frosting, (this can be store bought or homemade)
4 drops green food coloring
1/2 cup flaked coconut
2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
1/2 cup red frosting (this can be store bought or homemade)
1/2 cup yellow frosting

Place the coconut and the food coloring in a bowl with a lid. Shake untill all coconut is covered. Set aside.
Place vanilla wafers flat side up on a cookie sheet. Using a decorators bag and #12 tip pipe chocolate frosting onto flat side of one vanilla wafer. Top with colored coconut. Pipe yellow and red frosting onto the coconut. Place the other half of the wafers over the top of the coconut. If you wish to add sesame seeds, with a small kitchen brush lightly paint a VERY small amount of water on the tops of the cookies. Finally shake or sprinkle a small amount of sesame seeds over the wafers.
