It is getting to be that time of year when you really don’t want to turn on the oven unless you have to. So it is a great time of year for no bakes….well any time of year is a great time for no bakes but for the sole purpose of leaving your oven off, it is no bake time. They are also great for cookouts and picnics.
My family has been using the same no bake recipe for years, and it comes from our wonderful family friend, Dennis Langston. Growing up he was like a second dad to me, to make things better he had this amazing no bake recipe.
No Bake Cookies
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups oats
Mix together sugar and cocoa, then add in milk and butter in a heavy pan. Over medium heat bring to boil for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla. Add oats. Drop onto wax paper and let set. Store in an air tight container.
*One thing to remember about no bakes is that they can be temperamental depending on the humidity. Just so you know. Enjoy!
