Gooey Butter Cookies & Shag Carpet

These Gooey Butter Cookies are easy, delicious and would be great for a picnic…or sitting on the couch or a staff party…ok they are good for anything. When my friend Heather makes these, I have to use a little self control. They melt in your mouth!

Gooey Butter Cookies

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 egg

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package yellow cake mix

1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter. Stir in the egg and vanilla. Add cake mix, and stir until well blended. Roll into 1inch balls and roll the balls in the confectioners’ sugar. Place 1 inch apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.

Now on to the Shag Carpet…

Two weeks seperate these two images, however I laughed when I realized how similar they feel. This carpet is glorious and it exists in my grandparent’s basement. Growing up, my brother and I spent many hours playing in my grandparent’s basement. Over the weekend we took a little journey downstairs at my grandparents for the first time in years. I had forgotten about this carpet and took for granted it’s beauty as a child. So…I thought I would share it with you today…along with the recipe for Gooey Butter Cookies. Hope you enjoy!
