I fully understand that posting about a 5K might seem a little conflicting with the amount of sweets that get posted on this blog…but if I had to be honest I probably spend just as much time running every week as I do baking. I also love Uganda, Africa more than I can even begin to express.
Uganda is such a huge part of Matt & I. We have traveled there many times and spent countless hours loving on the people who live on the Islands of Lake Victoria. We have friends there that daily lay their lives out for the Gospel. The poverty is heart breaking and one of the biggest obstacles is the is the lack of clean water. Currently, most of the Ugandans that live on Lake Victoria carry yellow jerrycans to the lake and collect water that is consumed with pollution and disease. This is their drinking water, cooking water and bathing water. Over the past year, our partners, George & Geraldine Smith, have started drilling wells in these villages. To date they have drilled three wells and as funds come in they will drill more. These wells are changing lives in more ways than one.
For the past four months, a team of amazing individuals and avid runners have been planning a 5K to help raise money for a clean water well in the village of Sesi, on Lake Victoria. The cost for a clean water well is $6,500. The 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run will take place on April, 9 at 9:00 AM at Fellows Lake and Farm Road 66. If you are in the Springfield area, please join us as we raise funds for clean water in Uganda! For more info visit Uganda Living Water Project.
